ORIENTEERING

Orienteering is a mind body sport. Combining map reading and running, participants navigate at speed between control points marked on an orienteering map. In competitive orienteering, the aim is to complete the course in the quickest time by choosing the best route possible but orienteering doesn't have to be a race, a lot can be gained from just going at your own pace.

The Badenoch and Strathspey area offers some of the best orienteering terrain in the UK. Lagganlia extensive grounds and forrest surrounds provide the perfect landscape for experienced groups or aspiring beginners. Our on-site routes use traditional maps and check points and will soon be equipped with QR codes.

Lagganlia has been home to world championships and regularly hosts national events.

Badenoch & Strathspey Orienteering Club (BASOC), a highly regarded local club host a series of events across the area, which are open to non-members adn a great way to get started.  For details of local events click on the link: https://www.basoc.org.uk/events

To make the most of our natural woodland surroundings, we have created a selection of onsite activities, to embrace the outdoors and enhance your holiday.

All year round you can ski and snowboard, or even do a bit of donutting on our artificial snow sports slope.

Get to grips with our traverse climbing wall or ascend above the trees, to try our high ropes course- hat trick challenge.

If you are looking for something a little less adventurous, you can test your target skills at Archery or Frisbee Golf.

The fishermen amongst us can enjoy a days fishing on the River Feshie, then huddle around the campfire in our tipi tent.

Our rural setting provides access to some of the best walks, orienteering and biking that Badenoch and Strathspey have to offer.
